Launch an opportunity

Only page/community admins can launch opportunities (not individuals via their individual profiles) and only upgraded communities can launch opportunities that include the “Team-Up”, “Forum”, “Resources”, “Survey”, “Assessment” and “Dashboard” functionalities.

1. Create an opportunity

Once you have set up your WorldLabs page/community, you will need to click the “Create” button, which you will find in the fixed menu bar at the top right of your screen.

Next, click “Create Opportunity”.

Tips: You can also create an opportunity:

Via your page/community admin panel, which sits beneath the fixed menu bar at the top right of your screen. To create an opportunity, click the “Admin panel” button, then from the dropdown menu that appears, click the “Create” button and then “Opportunity”.

or

By clicking the “Opportunities” icon that appears underneath your page/community name in the top centre of your page/community (which will open the Opportunities tab), then clicking “Create Opportunity”.

or

By clicking “Opportunities” in the fixed menu that appears down the left-hand-side of your feed, then clicking “Create Opportunity”.

2. Opportunity category and title

Once you have clicked “Create Opportunity”, you will then see four categories of opportunities:

  1. Competition
  2. Crowdsourcing challenge
  3. Cohort selection
  4. Funding opportunity

Firstly, you will need to select the category that best describes the type of opportunity you are intending to launch. Alternatively, you can select “Create custom opportunity” to create an opportunity that does not fall within one of the predefined categories.

Next, you will be asked to add an opportunity title. The opportunity title will appear at the top of your opportunity page.

When you are ready, click next.

3.  Select relevant tags

Next you can select tags that will help prospective applicants to understand what your opportunity is about and whether it is live, including category tags, sector tags and a status tag. These tags will also help to ensure that your opportunity appears in relevant searches across the platform (unless you choose to make your opportunity private).

4: Add cover image

Once you have selected your tags and clicked “Next”, you can upload an image from your computer, which will then appear as a banner at the top of your opportunity page. The dimensions of this banner are [1920px X 698px], but you can also crop larger images during the upload process.

5: Set the key deadline(s)

Next, you can specify the date on which applications open, any relevant application deadlines and (if you know it), the date on which results will be announced (note that you can amend these dates at a later stage). Before moving on, you will also need to tick the box to signify your agreement with our terms and conditions.

You can then click “Create”, which will generate your opportunity page.

6: Accessing your opportunity page

Once you have created your opportunity, it will appear in the dropdown menu that can be accessed by clicking the name of your page/community in the menu bar (on the top right of your screen), then clicking “My opportunities”.

If instead of your page/community name, you see your profile name on the menu bar, then you will first need to click your profile name and from the drop down menu that appears, click the “Act as” button underneath your page name.

Tip: You can also access the opportunities you have created:

• By clicking “Opportunities” in the fixed menu that appears down the left hand side of your community.

• By clicking the “Opportunities” icon that appears underneath your page/community name in the top centre of your page/community.

• If you are acting as a page/community, you will also be able to access any of that page’s/community’s opportunities via the “Navigator” menu, which appears on the top left of every screen on the WorldLabs platform.

Next, you can start to customize your opportunity by filling in further details and branding your page.
